An Australian Perspective

Since being back home and never tiring of cruising back in towards white-sand beaches on a bed of foaming surf, it is interesting to notice and compare everyday things that we accept as how it is. That is until we have had another cultural experience and find out that culture is such a localised thing and is never to be taken as a benchmark across the world's face.

Here are just a few things that I have noticed recently that are truly Australian:

Now these muffins can feed a family of five

A 'small' mixed berry muffin from Twisted Sista Cafe Byron Bay http://www.gcfoodguide.com.au/blog/index.php/2007/09/09/twisted-sista-cafe-byron-bay/
And as Crocodile Dundee would say, 'That's not a dog... this is a dog!!!'
No pooncy French poodles here. Imagine taking this 'Australian Poodle' into a cafe in Lausanne for lunch.

Or shopping in IKEA?
 Fancy some filet de fish?
You've tried Filet de Perche. Now this is 'Filet de Barramundi', a small one at that. They grow to in excess of 50 kg

Aussie man and his dog fuelling up before a run
Men don't walk their puppies in Australia. They take them for a ride on their bikes.

Okay so we have large snakes, spiders, crocodiles and sharks too but you don't see them everyday and when I do I'll take some photos for you.

Cheers

Rob
